ALS, 1780 February 14 : Philadelphia, to Major [Benjamin] Walker.

Steuben writes: "I am very surprised that the General-in-Chief [Washington] trusts the arrogant arrangements of Col. Williams ..." He continues: "But I am afraid my friend that my reign is not anymore of this world. My letter of resignation to the Congress is in front of me on the table. I wanted to present it today but I promised a friend that I will send it in two days."
